local.ch MCP server: let your AI agent search Swiss businesses

#What your agent gets

The tool takes two required inputs. what is the trade in German, for example zahnarzt, elektriker or coiffeur. where is the Swiss place, for example zürich, bern, basel or luzern. The trade must be a category that local.ch knows.

The recipe writes umlauts in the path as ae, oe and ue, which local.ch answers directly. It builds the path itself, because the site's search form redirects and the recipe does not follow redirects.

In our checks on 7 November 2026, zahnarzt in zürich passed all 6 checks in one request, in 1.2 seconds, with 406 matches in total. The checks also included coiffeur in bern (379 matches) and st. gallen (52 matches).

Each entry has the fields name, categories, address, phone, open_now, opening, latitude, longitude and url. total is the number of matches local.ch reports, or null. Star ratings are not in the results, because the page draws them as stars without text. In our checks, no entry carried an ad or premium label, and the results have no tier field.

#How a request flows

1. You ask your agent: "Find dentists in Zürich on local.ch with phone numbers and opening hours."
2. The agent calls find_recipe, then run with local.ch/search-businesses, what set to zahnarzt and where set to zürich.
3. wield-mcp passes the run through the local bridge to the Wield extension.
4. The extension sends the request from your browser, with the session you already have.
5. The entries go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.

#What leaves your computer

A search makes one request to www.local.ch, for one results page, the way the site serves a visitor. The recipe does not call, review or book anything. Wield logs the request on your computer only, with method, host, path, status and timing, and never logs bodies or query values. Telemetry is off by default. Wield never reads, copies or sends your cookies or passwords.

#local.ch's terms, in plain words

The site's robots.txt allows /de/q/, the search path this recipe uses. It disallows /de/s/, the full-text search, and also the map, print and route URLs. It has no rules for Claude agents or AI content signals. The recipe makes one request per call, with no calls, reviews or bookings. Wield has not yet reviewed local.ch's terms of use for automated access, so read them yourself before you use this recipe in any other way.

The recipe runs one search that you start yourself, in your own browser, one search per call. It is not for bulk collection and it makes no purchases.

#Limits and what is not working yet

• Read only. The recipe finds entries. It does not call them, review them or book anything.
• Categories only. Free-text terms go to local.ch's full-text search at /de/s/, which robots.txt disallows. The recipe does not use it, so such a run fails with a redirect.
• No ratings. The star ratings are drawn without text and are left out of the results.
• Run limits apply. A run has at most 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds.

#Does the recipe need a local.ch account?

No. The search needs no login.

#Can I search by business name?

Not with this recipe. Use a trade category, such as zahnarzt. Business names go to the full-text search, which this recipe does not use.

#Does the search show ads or premium listings?

In our checks, no entry carried an ad or premium label. The results have no tier field.

#Which AI apps work with it?

Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Other MCP clients work with the standard stdio config.

#Where do the results go?

To your agent, on your own computer. The results never pass through wield.run.
