OnTheMarket MCP server: let your AI agent search UK homes
Wield is an MCP server that gives your AI agent one OnTheMarket tool, onthemarket.com/search-properties. The tool searches OnTheMarket, the UK property site, for homes to rent or buy in a town, area or postcode district. It returns each listing with title, address, price, bedrooms, bathrooms, property type, when it was added, agent, map position and link. The search runs in your own browser.

What your agent gets
| Recipe | What it does | Login | Status (7 Nov 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
onthemarket.com/search-properties | Finds UK homes to rent or buy by town, area or postcode district, with price, beds, agent and link | No | OK, 6 of 6 checks, 1 request |
The tool takes a required location, the name OnTheMarket uses for its own pages, for example london, manchester, sw11 or bristol. The optional inputs are channel (rent or buy, default rent), min_price, max_price in pounds (per month when renting), min_bedrooms, sort, page and include_spotlight. The sort input takes recommended (the default), price_low, price_high or newest.
Each property has id, title, address, price_gbp, price_text, price_qualifier, bedrooms, bathrooms, property_type, added, agent, latitude, longitude, promoted and url. The result also carries location, channel, total and page. price_gbp is the figure at the start of the price text. For £1,700 pcm (£392 pw) it is 1,700, the monthly rent.
How a request flows
- You ask your agent: "Find homes to rent in London with at least two bedrooms for up to 2,000 pounds a month, cheapest first."
- The agent calls
find_recipe, thenrunwithonthemarket.com/search-properties,locationset tolondon, channelset torent,max_priceset to2000,min_bedroomsset to2andsortset toprice_low. wield-mcppasses the run through the local bridge to the Wield extension.- The extension sends the request from an onthemarket.com tab in your browser, so it carries your own browser session.
- The listings go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.
In our check on 7 November 2026, London rent up to 2,000 pounds with two or more bedrooms passed all 6 checks in one request. A Manchester buy search for three or more bedrooms, sorted cheapest first on page 2, returned 28 listings, all priced and in ascending order, from 2,025 matches. Paid Spotlight listings were dropped.
What leaves your computer
A search makes one request to www.onthemarket.com, for one list page, the same page a visitor sees. The recipe makes no enquiries to agents. Wield logs the request on your computer only, with method, host, path, status and timing, and never logs bodies or query values. Telemetry is off by default. Wield never reads, copies or sends your cookies or passwords.
OnTheMarket's terms, in plain words
The recipe loads one list page per call, the same page a visitor sees, and sends no enquiries to agents. OnTheMarket's robots.txt gives ClaudeBot a crawl delay only, as checked on 7 November 2026. We have not reviewed OnTheMarket's terms for automated access yet, so read them yourself before you use this recipe in any other way. This is not legal advice. The search is user-initiated: you start it yourself, in your own browser, one search per call. It runs no bulk jobs and it makes no purchases.
Limits and what is not working yet
- Read only. The recipe finds listings. Enquiries to agents happen on OnTheMarket.
- Spotlight listings are dropped by default. They are paid placements. Set
include_spotlightto true to keep them, markedpromoted. - Location names are OnTheMarket's. Use the name the site uses, such as
sw11, not a free-text address. - Run limits apply. A run has at most 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds.
FAQ
Can the agent contact an estate agent?
No. The recipe only searches. Open the listing's url on OnTheMarket to get in touch with the agent yourself.
Does it need an OnTheMarket login?
No. The search works without an account.
Which AI apps work with it?
Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Other MCP clients work with the standard stdio config.
Where do the results go?
To your agent, on your own computer. The results never pass through wield.run.
