Marktplaats MCP server: let your AI agent search listings near a postcode

Wield is an MCP server that gives your AI agent one Marktplaats tool, marktplaats.nl/search-listings. The tool searches Marktplaats, the Netherlands' largest classifieds site, by keyword. It filters by price in euros, by distance from a Dutch postcode, and sorts by relevance, newest, price or distance. It returns the title, price, city, distance, seller and a link to each listing. Each search is one request, made from your own browser.

What your agent gets

Wield's recipes use the same requests the Marktplaats search makes. In your agent, the recipe shows up as one tool through wield-mcp:

RecipeWhat it doesLoginStatus (7 Nov 2026)
marktplaats.nl/search-listingsSearches listings with price, postcode distance, sort and business-ad filtersNoOK, 5 of 5 checks, 1 request, about 0.5 s

The tool takes query, which is required. Examples are fiets (bicycle) and bakfiets (cargo bike). Optional inputs are:

  • min_price and max_price in EUR.
  • postcode, a Dutch postcode such as 1012AB.
  • distance_km, one of 3, 5, 10, 15, 25, 50 or 75. It works only together with postcode.
  • sort: relevance (the default), newest, price_low, price_high or distance.
  • page, starting at 1.
  • include_ads, which is false by default. Business ads from Admarkt are dropped unless you set it to true. When kept, they are marked sponsored.

The result gives total, page and listings. Each listing has an id, title, description, price_eur, price_type (fixed, bidding, free and others), city, distance_km, listed, seller, seller_verified, delivery, promoted, sponsored, image and url.

How a request flows

  1. You ask your agent: "Find bakfietsen within 10 km of 1012AB, closest first."
  2. The agent calls find_recipe, then run with marktplaats.nl/search-listings, query: "bakfiets", postcode: "1012AB", distance_km: 10 and sort: "distance".
  3. wield-mcp passes the run through a local bridge to the Wield extension in your browser.
  4. The extension sends the search with the same request the list page makes.
  5. The listings go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.

Your agent can then open the url of a listing you pick. Contacting the seller stays on Marktplaats, in your hands.

What leaves your computer

The only host is www.marktplaats.nl. A search makes one request, and it goes out from your browser. Nothing passes through wield.run. Wield logs each request on your computer only: method, host, path, status and timing. It never logs bodies or query values. Telemetry is off by default. Wield never reads, copies or sends your cookies or passwords. Your postcode is sent to Marktplaats as part of the search, because the site needs it to measure distance. See the security notes.

No Marktplaats login is needed for search.

Marktplaats's terms, in plain words

We have not reviewed Marktplaats's terms as a lawyer would, so this is not legal advice. The recipe makes one search request per call, the same one the list page makes. It sends no messages and places no bids. Check the site's terms yourself before you automate anything else. Wield's recipes note known restrictions, and this one is read only.

Limits and what is not included

  • Read only. The tool searches. It does not message sellers, place bids or buy.
  • Distance needs a postcode. Without postcode, distance_km has no effect, and sort: "distance" needs a postcode too.
  • Business ads are hidden by default. Set include_ads to true to keep Admarkt ads, which are marked sponsored.
  • Promoted listings are marked. The promoted flag shows a listing that the site promotes. Your agent can show that flag next to the listing.
  • Run limits apply. A run has at most 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds. This search uses one step.
  • Results are website content. Your agent is told not to follow instructions found in listing text.

FAQ

Which AI apps work with it?

Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Other MCP clients work with the standard stdio config.

Does it need a Marktplaats login?

No. Search works without an account.

Can the agent place a bid?

No. The recipe only searches. Open the url from a result to bid or message the seller on Marktplaats yourself.

Why does the postcode matter?

The distance filter and the distance sort use it. Give a Dutch postcode, such as 1012AB, and pick a radius from 3 to 75 km. Each listing then shows its distance_km.
