Lidl MCP server: let your AI agent search Lidl's online shop

Wield is an MCP server that gives your AI agent one Lidl tool, lidl.de/search-products. The tool searches Lidl's German online shop and returns products with title, brand, price in euros, the struck-through price and discount when a product is reduced, rating, availability and link. It runs in your own browser and needs no Lidl login. It needs Wield extension 0.1.12 or newer.

What your agent gets

RecipeWhat it doesLoginStatus (7 Nov 2026)
lidl.de/search-productsSearches the Lidl online shop for products, with prices, discounts, ratings and availability, first 48 resultsNoOK, 5 of 5 checks, 1 request

The tool takes one required input, query, for example kaffeemaschine, akkuschrauber or parkside. It has no sort or page input. The recipe reads the first 48 results in Lidl's order.

The result gives query and a products list. Each product has title, brand, price_eur, was_eur (the struck-through price when reduced), discount_percent, rating, reviews, availability, image and url. Availability reads online, coming soon, or in stores on given dates.

Extension 0.1.12 or newer

The recipe reads each product from the data the page holds for it, parsed item by item. That needs Wield extension 0.1.12 or newer. An older extension makes wield-mcp return extension_outdated, so update the Wield extension before you use this tool.

How a request flows

  1. You ask your agent: "Find coffee machines on Lidl that are reduced, with the price, the struck-through price and the rating."
  2. The agent calls find_recipe, then run with lidl.de/search-products and query set to kaffeemaschine.
  3. wield-mcp passes the run through the local bridge to the Wield extension.
  4. The extension sends the search from a Lidl tab in your browser.
  5. The products go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.

In our check on 7 November 2026, a kaffeemaschine search passed all 5 checks in one request, in 865 ms. It returned 48 products, and 34 of them showed a discount. The search is semantic, so a nonsense query still returns products, as the site does.

What leaves your computer

A search makes one request to www.lidl.de, for one search page. Wield logs the request on your computer only, with method, host, path, status and timing, and it never logs bodies or query values. Telemetry is off by default. Wield never reads, copies or sends your cookies or passwords. Nothing is added to the cart.

Lidl's terms, in plain words

Lidl's robots.txt disallows *search?q=* and *?offset=* for bots. This recipe calls the search page itself, once per request you make, from your own browser. It reads the first page only, because paging uses the disallowed offset parameter. The robots file has no rules for Claude agents, and the site sends no AI content signals.

The scope is simple. Wield runs this recipe when you ask for it, for one search per call, from your own browser. It does not run bulk jobs, and it does not buy anything.

Our review of these terms is not finished, and this is not legal advice. Read Lidl's terms and its robots.txt yourself before you use the recipe in any other way.

Limits and what is not working yet

  • Read only. The recipe searches. It adds nothing to the cart and does not log in.
  • First page only. The tool returns the first 48 results.
  • Semantic search. A query with no real match still returns loosely related products. Check the title before you act on a result.
  • Prices as shown. Prices and availability are what the shop shows at the time of the run.
  • Extension version. The tool needs Wield extension 0.1.12 or newer.
  • Run limits apply. A run has at most 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds.
  • No benchmark yet. We have not benchmarked this recipe against a browser agent.

FAQ

Can the agent buy a product or add it to the cart?

No. The recipe only searches. It does not add anything to the cart, log in or buy anything.

Does the search need a Lidl account?

No. Search works without an account.

Why does the tool need extension 0.1.12?

Because it parses each product from the page's own data item by item. Older extensions cannot run that step, and wield-mcp returns extension_outdated.

Which AI apps work with it?

Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Other MCP clients work with the standard stdio config.

Where do the results go?

To your agent, on your own computer. The results never pass through wield.run.
