Let Claude search Allrecipes recipes by dish or ingredient

To let Claude search Allrecipes recipes, install Wield and name a dish or ingredients. For example: "Find lasagna recipes on Allrecipes and list the titles, rating counts and links." Claude runs the allrecipes.com/search-recipes recipe in your own browser. It returns recipe titles, rating counts, photos and links. No login is needed, and the search runs only from your browser because Allrecipes blocks servers.

Use it with your agent

What you need

  • Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or another MCP client.
  • A Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera or Chromium) with the Wield extension.
  • wield-mcp. Run npx -y wield-mcp init, or use the one-click Claude Desktop bundle on wield.run/install.

For the full setup, follow the quick start.

Ask your agent

Give a dish or ingredients. Claude calls find_recipe to find the recipe, then run with the parameters.

You: Find lasagna recipes on Allrecipes and list the titles, rating counts and links.

Claude runs allrecipes.com/search-recipes with query set to lasagna. It then reads the title, rating count, photo and link from each recipe.

Params: what to put where

ParamRequiredWhat to put in it
queryyesA dish or ingredients, for example lasagna, chicken thighs or banana bread.

The recipe has no sort or page input. Results come in Allrecipes' own order.

What comes back

The result has query and recipes. Each recipe shows title, ratings_count, image and url. ratings_count is the number of ratings. The star rating is not returned, because the site draws it as icons only.

url opens the recipe on Allrecipes. The recipe does not open that page for you. Articles and collections are skipped, so the list holds recipes only.

What leaves your computer

Each search makes one request to www.allrecipes.com, for one search page. It goes out from your browser. Nothing passes through wield.run. Wield logs the request on your computer, without bodies or query values.

Allrecipes's terms, in plain words

Allrecipes's robots.txt disallows Claude-User (AI agents acting for users), Claude-Web, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot and anthropic-ai on all paths. Wield lists this recipe with that note. The recipe runs only when you ask, one search page per call, from your own browser. It makes no recipe-page requests and collects nothing in bulk.

The scope is simple. Wield runs this recipe when you ask for it, for one search per call, from your own browser. It does not run bulk jobs, and it does not buy anything.

Our review of these terms is not finished, and this is not legal advice. Read Allrecipes's terms and its robots.txt yourself before you use the recipe in any other way.

Limits

  • Read only. The search does not save, rate or cook recipes.
  • Browser only. Allrecipes blocks servers, so a cloud run fails. If the site shows a check page, Wield stops and asks you to solve it in your own tab.
  • No star value. Only the number of ratings comes back.
  • Nonsense queries return nothing. A query with no match returns an empty list.

Status and benchmark

Status on 7 Nov 2026 is OK, browser only. The check passed 4 of 4 checks for lasagna in one request. We have not benchmarked this recipe against a browser agent yet.

FAQ

Can Claude save or rate a recipe?

No. The recipe only searches. It does not log in or change anything on the site.

Does the search need an Allrecipes login?

No. Search works without an account.

Can Claude get more than one page of results?

No. The recipe takes no page input, so each call returns the results for one search.
