Allrecipes MCP server: let your AI agent search recipes
Wield is an MCP server that gives your AI agent one Allrecipes tool, allrecipes.com/search-recipes. The tool searches Allrecipes for a dish or ingredients and returns recipe titles, rating counts, photos and links. It runs in your own browser, and it needs no Allrecipes login. Allrecipes answers servers with HTTP 403, so this recipe works only from your browser.

Parameters (1)
What your agent gets
| Recipe | What it does | Login | Status (7 Nov 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
allrecipes.com/search-recipes | Finds recipes for a dish or ingredients, with titles, rating counts, photos and links | No | OK, browser only, 4 of 4 checks |
The tool takes one required input, query, for example lasagna, chicken thighs or banana bread. It has no sort or page input. Results come in Allrecipes' own order.
The result gives query and a recipes list. Each recipe has a title, ratings_count (the number of ratings), image and url. The site draws its star rating as icons only, so the tool does not return a star value. Articles and collections in the results are skipped, so the list holds recipes only.
How a request flows
- You ask your agent: "Find lasagna recipes on Allrecipes and list the titles, rating counts and links."
- The agent calls
find_recipe, thenrunwithallrecipes.com/search-recipesandqueryset tolasagna. wield-mcppasses the run through the local bridge to the Wield extension.- The extension sends the search from an Allrecipes tab in your browser.
- The recipes go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.
In our check on 7 November 2026, a lasagna search passed all 4 checks in one request. A search with no matches answers HTTP 404 with an empty results block, and the tool returns an empty list.
Why it runs only in your browser
Allrecipes answers servers with HTTP 403. This recipe therefore runs only in the Wield extension, in your own Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera or Chromium). It cannot run from a cloud server. If Allrecipes shows a check page, Wield stops with site_challenge and asks you to solve it in your own tab.
What leaves your computer
A search makes one request to www.allrecipes.com, for one search page. The recipe does not open recipe pages. Wield logs the request on your computer only, with method, host, path, status and timing, and it never logs bodies or query values. Telemetry is off by default. Wield never reads, copies or sends your cookies or passwords.
Allrecipes's terms, in plain words
Allrecipes's robots.txt disallows Claude-User (AI agents acting for users), Claude-Web, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot and anthropic-ai on all paths. Wield lists this recipe with that note. The recipe runs only when you ask, one search page per call, from your own browser. It makes no recipe-page requests and collects nothing in bulk.
The scope is simple. Wield runs this recipe when you ask for it, for one search per call, from your own browser. It does not run bulk jobs, and it does not buy anything.
Our review of these terms is not finished, and this is not legal advice. Read Allrecipes's terms and its robots.txt yourself before you use the recipe in any other way.
Limits and what is not working yet
- Read only. The recipe searches. It does not save or rate recipes, and it does not log in.
- Browser only. The site blocks servers, so a cloud run fails.
- No star value. The tool returns
ratings_count, not the star rating. - Fuzzy matching. A nonsense query returns an empty list. Check the
titlebefore you use a result. - Run limits apply. A run has at most 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds.
- No benchmark yet. We have not benchmarked this recipe against a browser agent.
FAQ
Can the agent save a recipe or rate it?
No. The recipe only searches. It does not log in or change anything on the site.
Does the search need an Allrecipes account?
No. Search works without an account.
Can the agent run this from a cloud server?
No. Allrecipes answers servers with HTTP 403, so the recipe runs only in your own browser.
Which AI apps work with it?
Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Other MCP clients work with the standard stdio config.
Where do the results go?
To your agent, on your own computer. The results never pass through wield.run.
