What you need

  • Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or another MCP client.
  • A Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera) with the Wield extension.
  • wield-mcp. Run npx -y wield-mcp init, or use the one-click Claude Desktop bundle on wield.run/install.

For the full setup, follow the quick start.

Ask your agent

Give a dish or ingredients, and say how you want the results sorted if the order matters. Claude calls find_recipe to find the recipe, then run with the parameters.

You: Find lasagne recipes on BBC Good Food, most popular first, with the total time and skill level.

Claude runs bbcgoodfood.com/search-recipes with query set to lasagne and sort set to popular. It then reads the title, rating, total time, skill level and link from each recipe.

Params: what to put where

ParamRequiredWhat to put in it
queryyesA dish or ingredients, for example lasagne, chicken curry or banana bread.
sortnorelevance (the default), newest, popular or quickest.
pagenoThe page number, starting at 1. Each page holds 30 recipes.

What comes back

The result has query, total, page and recipes. total is the number of matches when the site reports one, and it can be empty.

Each recipe shows title, rating, ratings, total_time, total_minutes, skill, vegetarian, vegan, premium, image and url. total_minutes reads 30 mins, 2 hrs and 1 hr 35 mins. Other time formats leave it empty, so use total_time in that case.

url opens the recipe on BBC Good Food. The recipe does not open that page for you.

What leaves your computer

Each search makes one request to www.bbcgoodfood.com. It goes out from your browser. Nothing passes through wield.run. Wield logs the request on your computer, without bodies or query values.

BBC Good Food's terms, in plain words

BBC Good Food sends an AI signal with its pages. Content-Signal says that search is allowed (search=yes) and that AI training is not (ai-train=no). The site's robots.txt disallows /search* for bots. The recipe calls the site's search API, /api/search-frontend/search, which that robots.txt rule does not cover. The recipe uses the search for your own query, and nothing from it is used for training. Each call makes one request, and the recipe fetches no recipe pages.

The scope is simple. Wield runs this recipe when you ask for it, for one search per call, from your own browser. It does not run bulk jobs, and it does not buy anything.

Our review of these terms is not finished, and this is not legal advice. Read BBC Good Food's terms and its robots.txt yourself before you use the recipe in any other way.

Limits

  • Read only. The search does not save, rate or cook recipes.
  • Fuzzy search. A nonsense query returns loose matches.
  • Premium recipes are included. They are marked in the premium field.
  • Times can be empty. Formats other than the three above leave total_minutes empty.

Status and benchmark

Status on 7 Nov 2026 is OK. The check passed 5 of 5 checks in 1 request and 0.2 s. We have not benchmarked this recipe against a browser agent yet.

FAQ

Can Claude save or rate a recipe?

No. The recipe only searches. It does not log in or change anything on the site.

Does the search need a login?

No. Search works without an account.

Are premium recipes included?

Yes. They are marked in the premium field. Filter on that field if you only want the other recipes.

Can Claude get more than the first page?

Yes, by setting page to 2 or higher. Each page holds 30 recipes. Each page is a separate search, so it is one request per call.
