OTTO MCP server: let your AI agent search products with price and ratings

Wield is an MCP server that gives your AI agent one OTTO tool. It searches the OTTO catalog the way the search box does and returns price, list price (UVP), discount, review counts and labels. It runs in your own browser and needs no login. OTTO answers requests from servers, and cookie-less first loads, with HTTP 400, so the recipe runs only in the browser.

The search takes a query (required), a maximum price and an option to include sponsored products. Sponsored products are dropped by default. The recipe returns the products OTTO renders on the first results page, about 18 of them with full data. The rest of the list loads later in the page and is not part of the result. Each product comes with its article number, brand, name, price in euros, list price, discount percentage, review count, labels, key facts, image and link, so your agent can point you to the exact product page. The how-to page has example prompts.

In our browser check, the espresso machine search returned its page with status 200 in 486 milliseconds.

How a request flows

  1. You ask your agent: "Find espresso machines on OTTO under 300 euros and list the five cheapest."
  2. The agent calls find_recipe, then run with otto.de/search-products, your query and max_price: 300.
  3. wield-mcp passes the run through a local bridge to the Wield extension.
  4. The extension sends the request from an otto.de tab, so it carries your browser session.
  5. The results go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.

What leaves your computer

The recipe makes one request per search to www.otto.de. Passwords and cookies never leave your computer. Wield logs the request on your computer only, without the body or query values.

OTTO terms, in plain words

We have not completed a review of OTTO's terms for this recipe, so read them before you automate anything else. The recipe sends one search page per call, in your own browser session, as a person browsing would. It does not use a cart or an account.

Limits and what is not working yet

  • Browser only. OTTO answers requests from servers, and cookie-less first loads, with HTTP 400. The recipe does not run outside your browser.
  • First page only. A search returns about 18 products with full data. Later products are not part of the result.
  • Prices side by side. The current price and the list price (UVP) come back together with the discount, so the saving shows without extra steps.
  • Sponsored products are hidden. Set include_sponsored to see them.
  • No benchmark yet. We have not compared this recipe with a browser agent, so this page makes no speed claim.

Is there an official OTTO MCP server?

Not that we know of as of 7 November 2026. Wield provides this search as a recipe that runs in your browser.

Which AI apps work with it?

Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. The AI apps page lists each one.

Does it need a login?

No. The search needs no account.

Can the agent add an item to a cart or buy it?

No recipe does that. The OTTO recipe covers search only, with no cart and no account.
