Thomann MCP server: let your AI agent search instruments and gear

Wield is an MCP server that gives your AI agent one Thomann tool, thomann.de/search-products. The tool searches Thomann's shop for instruments and music gear, such as guitars, keyboards, microphones and audio interfaces. It returns each product's name, euro price, list price when reduced, stock status, delivery text, rating, review count, image and link. No model runs inside the recipe, so a search uses no LLM tokens.

What your agent gets

RecipeWhat it doesLoginStatus (7 Nov 2026)
thomann.de/search-productsSearches Thomann's shop for instruments and music gear, with prices, stock, ratings and sort orderNoOK, 6 of 6 checks, 1 request

The tool takes a required query, for example westerngitarre or shure sm58. The optional inputs are sort, limit and page. sort accepts popularity (the default), price_low, price_high, rating or newest. limit accepts 25 (the default), 50 or 100 results per page.

Each result lists name, title, price_eur, list_price_eur (only when the item is reduced), in_stock, availability, rating (from 0 to 5), reviews, image and url. Prices are Thomann's German shop prices, including VAT.

How a request flows

  1. You ask your agent: "Show me the cheapest westerngitarre listings on Thomann, with stock status."
  2. The agent calls find_recipe, then run with thomann.de/search-products, query set to westerngitarre and sort set to price_low.
  3. wield-mcp passes the run through the local bridge to the Wield extension.
  4. The extension sends the request from a thomann.de tab in your browser, so the search runs as it would if you typed it into the shop.
  5. The products go back to your agent. Nothing passes through wield.run.

In our check on 7 November 2026, a price-sorted search for westerngitarre passed all 6 checks in one request, in 354 ms. The check also confirmed that prices sort in ascending order.

What leaves your computer

A search makes one request to www.thomann.de, the same search page a visitor sees. The recipe sends no basket or wishlist actions, so nothing is added to a cart. Wield logs the request on your computer only, with method, host, path, status and timing. It never logs bodies or query values. Telemetry is off by default. Wield never reads, copies or sends your cookies or passwords.

Thomann's terms, in plain words

We have not finished reviewing Thomann's terms, and this is not legal advice. Thomann's robots.txt allows its search page. It disallows filter URLs, baskets and wishlists. Our recipe makes one request per search, for one results page, and never touches a basket or wishlist. Read Thomann's terms yourself before you automate anything else.

Limits and what is not working yet

  • Read only. The recipe searches. Buy on Thomann's site through the product link.
  • Prices include VAT. They are the German shop prices that the search page shows.
  • Sponsored products. Our notes from recording the recipe say that search results contain no sponsored products.
  • Results are website content. Your agent is told not to follow any instructions it finds in them.
  • Run limits apply. A run has at most 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds.

FAQ

Does it need a Thomann account?

No. Search works without an account.

Which AI apps work with it?

Any MCP client. npx -y wield-mcp init sets up Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Other MCP clients work with the standard stdio config.

Can the agent buy the gear?

No. The recipe only searches. It sends no basket, wishlist or checkout requests. Open the product link to buy on Thomann.

Does the agent see stock status?

Yes. Each result carries in_stock and availability, which holds the delivery text the shop shows.

Where does the search run?

In your own browser, with the session you already have. The recipe's only host is www.thomann.de. The results never pass through wield.run.
