Let Claude find restaurants on OpenTable for a date and party size
Wield lets Claude search OpenTable for restaurants by cuisine, name or keyword, for a city, date, time and party size. Claude runs the opentable.com/search-restaurants recipe. The request runs in your own browser, with no login. The result lists restaurant names, cuisines, price bands, ratings and addresses. You make the reservation yourself on OpenTable.

9 runs each, 7 November 2026. How we measure
What you need
- An MCP client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
- A Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera or Chromium) with the Wield extension.
- wield-mcp. Follow the quick start and the install page, then run
npx -y wield-mcp init.
You don't need an OpenTable account to search.
Ask your agent
Ask with the cuisine, the city, the date and the party size. For example:
"Find sushi restaurants in New York for 2 people on 20 November at 19:00."
Claude calls find_recipe, then run with opentable.com/search-restaurants. It sends the cuisine as query, the city as city, and the date, time and party size as separate fields.
Params: what to put where
| Param | Required | What to put |
|---|---|---|
query | yes | A cuisine, restaurant name or keyword, for example italian, sushi or rooftop |
city | no | A city, for example New York, San Francisco or London. Leave it out to use OpenTable's guess of your area |
date | yes | The visit date, for example 2026-11-20 |
time | no | The visit time. The default is 19:00 |
party_size | no | The number of guests. The default is 2 |
What comes back
The output has four fields: query, area, total and restaurants. The area field shows the metro area that OpenTable actually searched. The total field shows how many restaurants matched.
Each restaurant has id, name, cuisine, price_band, neighborhood, rating, reviews, booked_recently, address, max_party_size and url. The url opens the restaurant page on OpenTable, where you pick a time.
Time slots are not included yet. OpenTable loads them separately on each restaurant page.
In a browser check on 7 November 2026 at 12:58, the search for "sushi new york" returned New York City with 156 restaurants.
What leaves your computer
The recipe sends one request to www.opentable.com. It leaves from your own browser tab, as a single search at the pace of a person. Nothing goes through wield.run.
Limits and terms
OpenTable's terms prohibit automated access. Use this recipe for your own searches, one at a time. It is not for collecting restaurant data in bulk or for checking many dates in a loop.
The recipe only searches. It cannot reserve a table, and it cannot pick a time for you. Reservations are made by you on OpenTable.
Wield caps every run at 12 steps, 40 requests and 60 seconds.
