Let Claude search Zillow homes for rent or sale

To let Claude search Zillow homes, install Wield and ask in plain words, for example: "Find rentals in Austin, TX under 2,500 dollars a month." Claude runs one read-only Wield recipe. It sends one request from your own browser tab and returns listings with address, price, beds, baths and area. You do not need a Zillow login.

What you need

  • Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or another MCP client.
  • A Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera or Chromium) with the Wield extension.
  • wield-mcp. Run npx -y wield-mcp init, or follow the quick start. Claude Desktop users can also use the one-click bundle on wield.run/install.

The recipe covers US homes. Give it a US city and state.

Ask your agent

Name the city, whether you want to rent or buy, and the highest price. Two examples:

  • "Find rentals in Austin, TX under 2,500 dollars a month."
  • "Show homes for sale in Seattle, WA up to 800,000 dollars."

Your agent calls the recipe zillow.com/search-homes, version 1. It is read-only and needs no login. It searches listings in one city and sends no messages.

Params: what to put where

Your agent fills these in from your request. You do not write them yourself.

ParamRequiredAllowed valuesDefaultWhat to put in it
cityyestextnoneA US city and state, such as 'Austin, TX' or 'Brooklyn, NY'.
listing_typenorent or buyrentrent for rentals, buy for homes for sale.
max_pricenowhole number, USDnoneThe highest price. For rentals it is per month. It filters the page that comes back, not every listing in the city.
pagenowhole number1Which page of results to read. Use 2 or higher for more listings.
include_paidnotrue or falsefalseKeeps paid showcase and builder placements in the list when true.

What comes back

The result has five top-level fields: city, listing_type, total (the number of matching listings, or null), currency and homes. Each home has these fields: id, name, kind, address, price_from, price_text, beds, baths, area_sqft, status, paid, latitude, longitude and url.

Rental buildings show a price range for their unit types, and price_from gives the starting price. Single homes show one price, plus beds, baths and square feet. The paid field marks sponsored placements. They are dropped unless you set include_paid to true.

In a live check on 7 November 2026, a search for rentals in Austin, TX returned listings in one request in 0.8 s. All 4 checks passed.

What leaves your computer

  • One request per search, to www.zillow.com, sent from a Zillow tab in your browser.
  • Nothing goes through wield.run. Results stay on your computer until your agent reads them.
  • Wield logs each request on your computer only, with no bodies and no query values.
  • Zillow uses bot protection that challenges traffic which is not a normal browser. Wield runs in your own browser for that reason. If a check appears, Wield stops and asks you to solve it in your own tab.

Limits and terms

Zillow's terms prohibit automated queries and scraping. This recipe is for one search you start yourself, one page at a time, from your own browser. Don't loop it, and don't use it to collect listings in bulk. Check Zillow's terms before you use the results for anything beyond your own search.

Every Wield run is capped at 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds. Wield does not solve bot checks.

FAQ

Can Claude contact a landlord or seller through this?

No. The recipe is read-only. It searches listings and sends no messages.

Why does max_price not always match the results?

max_price filters only the page that the recipe returns. Check the price on each listing before you rely on it.

Does this cover homes outside the US?

No. The recipe takes US cities and states. Ask your agent to request another site with request_recipe if you need one.

How reliable is it?

In our runs, as of 7 November 2026 (preliminary, still running), the recipe passed 9 of 9 runs with a median of 896 ms and no model cost. Browser Use driving Claude Sonnet 5.5 passed 0 of 9 runs. Its median was 14.8 s at about $0.01 per run, and bot protection blocked it in all 9 runs. The check was at least 5 homes, each with a name or address and a price, across three queries run three times each. Full method on the benchmark page.

Does this work with other AI apps?

Wield is a local MCP server, so any MCP client can use it. Setup is documented for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. For the full tool list, see the Zillow MCP page.
