Let Claude look up the lowest shop prices on idealo

To let Claude look up shop prices on idealo, install Wield and ask in plain words: "Find the cheapest current offers for a Sony WH-1000XM5 and list shop, price and delivery." Claude runs the idealo.de/price-lookup recipe in your own browser. It returns idealo's lowest and highest price, the offer count and the offers, cheapest first.

What you need

  • An MCP client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.
  • A Chromium browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, Opera or Chromium) with the Wield extension.
  • wield-mcp. Run npx -y wield-mcp init. The install page and the quick start cover the details.

You don't need an idealo account. The recipe runs without a login.

Ask your agent

Name the product as precisely as you can. The recipe takes the first idealo suggestion for your query and returns that product's name as product, so you can check it matched. Try:

Find the cheapest current offers for a Sony WH-1000XM5 and list shop, price and delivery.

To see more offers, ask for them. Your agent can set max_offers to 40, which is two pages. That option comes from early testing and has not been re-checked live, so the default of 20 is the safer choice.

Params: what to put where

Your agent fills these in from your sentence. You don't type them yourself.

ParamRequiredWhat it means
queryyesProduct name, for example Sony WH-1000XM5 or iPhone 16 128GB
max_offersno20 (one page of offers, the default) or 40 (two pages)

What comes back

FieldMeaning
productThe idealo product the recipe used, so you can check the match
categoryidealo's category for the product, when it has one
product_urlThe idealo product page
lowest_price_eur and highest_price_euridealo's lowest and highest price, in euros
offer_countAll offers idealo lists for the product
offersEach offer with shop, price_eur, total_with_shipping_eur, offer_title and delivery

The offers come cheapest first. The offer_title is the shop's own text, so read it before you compare two offers. The 20-offer default was returned in full on 7 Nov 2026, in a live check.

What leaves your computer

The recipe sends three requests to www.idealo.de. They go from a tab in your own browser, so they use the session your browser already has. Nothing goes through wield.run.

The recipe never follows idealo's tracked click-out links to shops, so it triggers no click-outs. Wield does not read, copy or send your cookies or passwords. It logs each request on your computer with method, host, path, status and timing. It never logs bodies or query values.

Limits and terms

idealo's terms prohibit automated extraction. The recipe is meant for one lookup at a time that you start yourself. Don't loop it to watch prices.

idealo's bot protection rejects non-browser clients. That is why this recipe runs only in your browser. If idealo shows a check, Wield stops and asks you to solve it in your own tab. Wield never solves the check for you.

Benchmark

As of 7 Nov 2026, preliminary and still running. In our runs, the Wield recipe passed 9 of 9 lookups, with a median of 562 ms and no model cost. A Browser Use agent driving Claude Sonnet 5.5 passed 0 of 9. Its median was 20.1 s, at about $0.03 per run. idealo's bot protection blocked the cloud browser agent in all 9 runs. Full method: the idealo benchmark.

FAQ

Does Claude buy the product or open a shop for me?

No. The recipe is read-only and needs no login. It returns prices and links. You buy on the shop's site yourself.

Do I need an idealo account?

No. The recipe works without a login.

Why does this recipe run in my browser and not in the cloud?

idealo's bot protection rejects non-browser clients. The recipe runs only in your own browser, through the Wield extension. In our runs, a cloud browser agent was blocked on every attempt.

How do I know the recipe matched the right product?

Read the product field in the result. It names the idealo product the recipe used. If it isn't the one you meant, ask again with a more exact product name, such as the model number.

Does this work for other shops or countries?

This recipe covers idealo.de. Your agent can request another site with the request_recipe tool, or you can ask for one at /sites.
