Wield vs Firecrawl: what each does and when to pick it
Firecrawl is an API and open-source project for searching, scraping and interacting with web pages. It returns page content as markdown, HTML, screenshots or JSON. Wield runs site recipes in your own browser, with your own session, and returns structured results to your AI app. Firecrawl suits bulk extraction from public pages. Wield suits structured actions on consumer sites you already use.
What Firecrawl is
Firecrawl's README lists these endpoints: Scrape, which turns a URL into markdown, HTML, screenshots or JSON; Search; Crawl; Map; Interact; Agent, which the README describes as the evolution of /extract; Batch Scrape; Parse; and Monitor. Its license is primarily AGPL-3.0, and its SDKs and some UI components are MIT. The hosted service includes extra features that the README does not list here.

Logins and your data
The Firecrawl README does not address logins or authenticated pages. Check its documentation before you use it for a task behind a login.
Wield runs tasks behind your own login from your own browser. The requests leave your browser, and a server does not fetch pages on your behalf. Passwords and cookies never leave your computer, and results never pass through wield.run.

FAQ
Does Firecrawl support logins?
Its README does not say how it handles logins or authenticated pages. Read its current documentation before you rely on it for a logged-in task.
Does Wield return page markdown?
No. Wield tools return structured results, such as connections with prices or free appointment slots.
Is Wield a crawler?
No. Recipes have hard limits: 12 steps, 40 requests, 5 MB per response and 60 seconds per run. Wield is built for one task that you start, not for bulk collection.
